Even when motivated by good intentions and best practices, current smart city concepts have a number of flaws. Unlike existing smart city networks which focus on just the private sector and government as members, SmartCT, a technology NGO based in the Philippines, mobilizes SmartCT Alliance to serve as a knowledge and public-private-people partnership platform to promote the expansion and advancement of open, sustainable, and responsible smart cities, and technologies in South East Asia.
